Registration of Farmers in the Project:
In the month of February to April, our project manager is in charge of making visits with our farmers in their fields. During these visits, several aspects of the organic agriculture are been explained. It is also a moment of exchange where the farmer discuss about his doubts, his problems which are been solved by our technical adviser.
Visits are also foreseen for the farmers interested in the organic cotton and wishing to join the Mahima group. The project manager collects then all the necessary information about his activities as: the type of agriculture (conventional or biological), the type of fertilizing or pesticides used in fields, type of culture … If all the criteria are performed the farmer will receive an agreement and complete record of the farmer is prepared which includes:
- Agreement.
- Updated map
- Blank map.
- Soil Fertilizer & Pest Management Performa.
- C & H Performa (Crop Rotation) (Yield Harvest records).
- Bio Farmer Management Record
A special training program is conducted in the month of March and April to manufacture compost, wormi compost and other manures.
Farming Packages Distributed to the Farmers
Seed Treatment: Chemical free seeds to be sown with the help of Tracoderma.
Pest control and Growth of Plant:
Following actions are being taken.
- Medicine prepared from Botanical plant.
- Cow Urine.
- Butter Milk.
- Thai Hormone of Coconut extract
- NPV Virus.
- BD 501.
- Bio Gas Slurry.
Mechanical Measures for Pest Control:
Following actions are being taken.
- Pheromone Traps.
- Light Traps.
- Bird Stand.
- Collection of Caterpillar.
For Land fertility:
Following actions are being taken.
- Spraying of BD-500.
- Applying Slurry.
- Spraying of Cow Urine.
- Wormi compost.
- Green compost.
- Rock Phosphate.
- Gypsum.
- D.O.C.
- Azatobactor, PSB, Azospirullum Trichoderma etc.

In addition, our supervisors check the soil fertility management, the pest management…and record all those information
in a daily log book.
Action Taken in Case of Non-Compliance
If the farmer does not follow the Organic Practices as specified by Extension Officer / Supervisor, he is given show cause notice by our Extension Officer. A time frame of 15 days to 2 months is given to him for complying with the informed practices. If he does not respond to the non-compliances, he receives a final notice after which he is considered as defaulter and taken out of the project.
